UK POLITICIANS: SUPPORT PEOPLE WITH ARTHRITIS WAITING FOR SURGERY

The Covid-19 pandemic has left hundreds of thousands of people with arthritis across the UK facing lengthy waits for joint replacement surgery.

Long waiting times are destroying lives. Not only are many people with arthritis struggling to stay well for their operations, they’re having to pay to keep their agonising pain at bay, pushing many into financial hardship.

Recent announcements from governments across the UK of more funding for the NHS to tackle the essential surgery backlog is welcome, but experts have warned it’s going to take a long time to bring waiting lists down.

That’s why we’re calling on politicians across the UK to make sure everyone waiting for joint replacement operations has access to support from their local health service now to help manage their pain, look after their mental health and stay well for their operation.

We need your help to get this vital support provided as quickly as possible

Can you send a message to your elected representative(s) today and ask them to back our call? We know that politicians listen and respond to their local constituents, so this is the best way to get them to take action quickly on this urgent issue.

Sending a message is really easy: enter your details, we’ll find your MP, MS, MSP or MLA, and then send our prewritten message – or you can personalise it by sharing your own experiences.
